C# - use of DropDownList and OwnerDrawFixed properties for ComboBox does not work

My question is related to this thread (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/54398853-5068-48dc-a185-ca0e1e0bfef7/why-does-ownerdrawvariable-change-the-look-of-a-dropdownlist?forum=winforms), but is not only about the look of the ComboBox.

If I use DropDownList and OwnerDrawFixed properties, OnDrawItem event is fired but e.Index is always -1. I use Visual Studio 10.30319.1. I did not see any fix in SP1.

Could you confirm that this issue still needs to be fixed?
