Random Number generation.

hello!

I want to know that how does random numbers are generated? i mean what logic they use in Random class's methods?
My algorithm is completely based on random number generation. Sometimes i notice that these random numbers become predictable.

Someone once told me that they are generated by clock ticks. Is that true? Does Stucture of machine effects them?

any help would be appriciated.
