getting started question - general direction

Hello,

Not sure what forum to post this in so thought I would start here. I am going to start a new project that I want to do the following:

1. starts and puts it's icon is the systray. Everything would be done from the systray with right-click displaying menu of actions.

2. when an action is clicked from the menu, I want it to display UI for that action, the UI will differ based on action, in some cases it will just display results of an action, other cases it may be used for input/interaction with the user.

so my questions are:

1. What type of VS project is this? a winforms or WPF app? a windows service? Not sure of what would be appropriate but I know I would like to use the 'fancey' wpf for GUI...

2. should I create a windows service project and a wpf project in the same solution and have the wpf forms interact with the service?

2. what's the thing in the systray? is it it's own type of project? or can one be added to any windows forms or wpf project?

thanks!
