Not able to change the browser's URL without reloading the page

i am working with one of the largest media company an di am working on browsers history API and here i want to change the url of the browser without reloading the page and i can do it in other Browser via pushstate() method but in IE i am not able to do it.. please suggest a solution for IE7 IE8, IE9.

we have large no of usres using IE browsers.
