Positioning / overlapping of controls due to Windows's Personalization/Display setting

I've created a UserControl that hosted in an Office Custom Task Pane. There are a number of controls on the UC surface (labels and image containers, mostly), positioned basically in two vertical columns.

The machine on which I designed the UC has the Windows Personalization/Display set at "Medium (125%)". I notice when I display the CTP with the UC on a machine where the setting is "Normal (100%)" that the controls in the column on the right tend to overlap the controls in the column on the left.

Rather than using a static setting, I've tried calculating a position for the second column by adding the left position of a control in the first column + the control's width + 20, but this doesn't appear to make a difference.

What is the best approach to make sure the controls layout next to each other, rather than overlap, no matter which display option the user has chosen?
